Soie d'Alger is the classic universal silk floss that is available in 629 colors. It comes in five meter lengths and has 7 threads, which means you have 35 linear meters of silk floss available when embroidering with one thread. There are also larger containers of 45 meters for all colors. With one thread you can cross stitch on 40 ct, 36 ct and even 32 ct linen. The silk floss is also suitable for embroidering the petit point stitch and many other embroidery stitches on the linen thicknesses mentioned. Soie d'Alger is a silk floss spun from shorter silk threads, these so-called Schappe yarns are smooth, regular and have a slight sheen.
