This sampler is inspired by Swiss samplers, often stitched only with one colour, white. They are of a striking square shape measuring roughly 50/ 50 cm. The patterns you find on the sampler were stitched for more than 300 years and decorated not only samplers, but textiles for daily use like bed and table linen. The favorite colours to embroider the family linen were red and black.
